I have to do my G3 practical I did the G3 online course and passed the written portion. I saw someone comment on here the TSSA fails 90% of people who do the practical through them?? That seems crazy I saw a few posts about the practical but seem pretty old just wondering if anyone has done it more recently?

I guess I was one of the lucky ones when I did the practical with the TSSA dude for the OBT3 and passed years ago. You'll need to know your codebook and where to find things when he asks. You'll need to know the order of importance from the TSSA ACT to the scope of the trade and what is or isn't considered an immediate or non immediate hazard. Make sure you have all the acts, pink page amendments in your book. You'll need to know how to do a combustion analysis and what's going on with the readings, as well as know how to test and check certain flame safeties and ignition related problems and what to test for with thermocouples/piles, and flame rectification. You will also need to know about venting and draft... Or you could be required to know hardly anything I mentioned if he's not like the guy I had. He will more than likely be looking to make sure he's not about to pass someone who could be a walking hazard. He may question why or how you did an online course instead of a real course.

Any insight for the Gas 2 fitter Practical skills assessment? I heard from one person recently he did it online through Zoom with a TSSA agent.

I doubt there is much difference between the G2 and G3 practical.  Hopefully this helps,

We've just had a few guys do their G3 practical it was mostly knowing what parts of a furnace are called and what their purpose is, as well as knowing your scope of work from O.Reg 212/01 https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/010212

wow, i think its different for everyone aye? some people have to thread pipe, cut, ream, and fix a faulty furnace i believe? but i assume if its for g3 then it shouldn't be too crazy, especially as someone who is challenging the exam, it should be pretty simple? can u please elaborate about the questions?
