1yr old HVAC 4 ton heat pump. I have checked all wire nuts and wire connections are tight on inside unit, outside unit and thermostat. Thermostat is brand new Honeywell installed with batteries. HVAC tech checked all R32 Freon numbers and they are correct.

Randomly the outside unit will false start meaning I hear a loud click (I assume is the contactor) but immediately it shuts off with plunger sucking in and back out going from 26v to 0 immediately (click click). When this happens the inside unit turns on and the blower is running. Inside runs outside doesn't. After a few minutes delay the outside unit clicks and starts running normally with the inside unit.  This has been going on since this system was installed Aug 2025.

Each time the outside unit does this quick click click on and off, the very next time it starts normally. It's random though. The system might run 4 or 5 times in a row and the very next one it click click on and off.

Anyone ever seen this?

Does that mean your thermostat has no C wire connected?  Did this problem start happening after this thermostat was installed?

I have found HRV interlock wiring back feeding to the AC. If you have one interlocked with the furnace make sure it's using the 3 wire method and not the 2 wire method.  There may also be a condensate pump safety or anti ice control indoors, installed on that 24V circuit.  You can bypass one at a time to see if the problem stops.

Is this installed with a non A2L furnace?  If they installed an R32 integration board, I would check to see where they attached the Y and C from OD unit.  Make sure they are wired to the black molex plug on the integration board, not the green one.
