Can anyone please help me out here?  I'm looking to get into HVAC, as well as my G2 and G3 certifications.

Can you guys help me out with schools, unions and such?  Who do I go to?  There are so many groups, schools, and government institutions that I'm completely confused now.

I found a private school called Pre-Apprenticeship Training Institute, they offer an HVAC program that includes a 12 week paid work placement, as well as G3 and G2 certifications according to the TSSA curriculum.  Any thoughts?  How did you guys get into it?

Thanks!

How much does the pat institute cost. You can do G3 And G2 through Himark as well (himark.ca). To get refrig and a/c training the best is to find an apprenticeship.

Hi all,

I'm also looking to get into the HVAC trade. Here is my position; 29 years old spent 8 years with IBM (still there). Getting married and I need to join a more secure career and a chance to make more then 22-24 bucks an hour. Don't let the tie fool you I don't mind getting my hands dirty, i.e I rebuilt a couple motorcycles and helped move a couple of central AC's.

I'm not out of high-school and don't have the chance to start fresh I have financial commitments.

How much would a first year apprentice start at?
What's the Local Union I should talk too. I live in Thornhill, Ontario.

Sorry for the stupid questions, but I want to make a better life for my family.

I also found this course at Humber (part-time) http://calendardb.humber.ca/LIS/WebCalendar/CE/SubjectArea/details.do?name=Heating%2C+Ventilation+and+Air+Conditioning

Any thoughts
