Hello all,
I have a bad with a vfd in a carrier unit. Unit is not under warranty because of contractor and  owner dispute. Long story short now I need to replace the vfd and manufacture tells me its backordered could be several months. So new one is on its way but i need this unit to run so I can pass my final. Basically i just need to run the fan and have the fire system shut it down to confirm fire system works. I do not need to use this unit just pass the test. It is an ABB vfd and they can not help because its Carrier. I hope there is a Carrier tech or someone here that can help me out. My question first is can i use another vfd just temp For this? Does the carrier unit communicate with bacnet?
Is there any temporary setup i can run?
Some vfd details,
ABB drive ACS320 03u 08a8 4

I really need a work around quickly as the new drive has no ETA any time soon. As i said i do not need to run the unit other than this one test as i have several units in place. But they all have to run at time of test
Can someone please help?

You sure that's the right number? That's a 480v drive.

Here's what a quick google search came up with:

Yes that is correct it is a 480 volt drive. Notice on the link it also says out of stock. I have called many places and can not find one in stock. Thats the big problem I need this drive to pass my fire alarm inspection and building final. And nobody can give me an estimate on how long it will take to get one. I need a work temporary work around. I just need the fan to run so the fire system can shut it down.

I wonder if an electrical supplier/wholesaler could find you a cross reference with a different manufacturer.

There's a link on that website to the technical manual pdf, page 12 has the wiring and I/O info. Might help to bring that? You have your work cut out for you, unless someone has already done the legwork for you.

There's also a forum called hvac-talk that Might also help
