I am trying to install an electric dryer in the basement. My issue is finding a location to install the moisture exhaust duct. I have a location, but it would put the exhaust outlet 40" from the exterior propane tank, and 35" from a window. With my limited building code understanding, this would fail the inspection. The alternative is to tie into the existing dryer exhaust duct from the main floor. Is this authorized or against the Ontario building code? Can you have two dryers using a single exhaust?

Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time

Table 5.3 from the B149.1-20 Gas Code requires 39" from the propane tank regulator outlet to the dryer vent and I do not know of any Codes that prevent you from installing the electric dryer vent close to a window.  A gas dryer would only require 12" clearance to a window that opens.

There is a separate Clause in the B149.2 Code that has another clearance from an exhaust vent to the tank itself, but I cannot find it.  I don't think it pertains to a dryer vent anyway, only a furnace exhaust vent.

From the OBC,

Quote6.2.3.8. Exhaust Ducts and Outlets
(7) Exhaust ducts connected to laundry drying equipment shall be,
(a) independent of other exhaust ducts,
(b) designed and installed so that the entire duct can be cleaned, and
(c) constructed of smooth corrosion-resistant material.

Quote6.2.4.11. Exhaust Ducts and Outlets
(1) Where an exhaust duct passes through or is adjacent to unheated space, the duct shall be insulated to prevent moisture or condensation in the duct.
(2) Exhaust outlets shall be designed to prevent back draft under wind conditions.
(3) Exhaust ducts directly connected to laundry drying equipment shall be independent of other exhaust ducts.
(4) Exhaust systems shall discharge directly to the outdoors.

There are provisions that allow combining exhaust vents for kitchens or bathroom fans, but not laundry drying vents.

That's perfect, I can make the 39" work. Much appreciated, thank you for the quick response.
