I'm in my last few weeks of College attending an Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning course and we're soon to be writing our 313D BASIC exemption.

Now my question to you forum is, must you obtain and hold a full 313D license in order to apprentice as a 313A?

rmuntz

Simple answer....no.

Thanks.

Now the reason why I'm asking this is... I do plan on writing my basic exemption test which is right around the corner, however, I fully intend on pursuing a Refrigeration career on the Commercial / Industrial side.

What do you folks suggest I do?

Should I simply look for a 313A apprenticeship?

Ideally, if you want to do commercial/industrial work, you should try to get hired by a company that does that and will sign you up for a 313A apprenticeship. If that doesn't happen right away I think it would be a good idea to take whatever experience you can get and then try to advance from there.
