I have an old home with big cast iron rads.I am looking at the above boilers. Any comments on reliablity or most suitable for my situation. They are to replace a 21 year old Teledye Lars MiniTherm JVS225  whose base is cracked. I can replace the base for $800 but do not know have many more years I can expect if I go that route. Any help or views would be most welcome.

I think replacing the natural draft boiler with a high efficiency boiler is a good investment.
Slant fin would be my choice over a Buderus.  Both are good, compare warranties and price.
Make sure they upgrade your controls, pump and expansion tank.

Thanks for your view. I had not planned on changing the pump that runs contantly all the heating season. The pump is a Bell & Gossett F58 with a 1/2 HP. I have a spare that has never been installed that I planned on using if necessary. Should I instal the spare now ?  Are there more economical pumps available that would justify junking the spare I have ? I am leaning to the Slant/Fin. Thanks again for your help.
