Galvanized fittings with black iron

Recently i went to home depot to grab some black iron fittings to complete the job on gas piping,they selling the galvanized fittings too.So i wasnt sure that galvanized fittings can be used with the black iron fittings or not?They claiming that those can be used but i wasnt sure as i couldnot  find the references in the gas code book.Any suggestions?

There's nothing prohibiting the use of galvanized piping.

Be careful though because you can't assume the wholesaler carries approved material.  You have to look at the packaging or stamping to see if it's approved.

Here in Ottawa we have wholesalers that still stock milled flared nuts when Clause 6.2.5 says only flared nuts shall be used.
