Safgard M170 LWCO Probe stem leak
« on: August 13, 2015, 03:17:14 PM »
Hello;

The LWCO probe for the boiler has a very slow leak from the its stem. Pressure still holding good last year, 18 psi two storey building.

Does it have seals inside to be replaced? Where can I buy a new one? I checked with Rona and Home Depot, the salesperson said they do not carry them.

Thanks.

Or Home depot, in the US, sells it for $119 and may be ordered online,

MAINTENANCE
When installed on a residential hot water heating system, the probe should be removed and cleaned every five years. When installed on a commercial application, the probe should be removed and cleaned annually. After cleaning the probe, perform the Operational Test Procedure described above.

Usually the LWCO is a add on control and you could use any 120V 50psi control.  The link above should be what you're looking for, but any HVAC / Plumbing wholesaler should stock something similiar.
