CANCELLATION FEE?

Hey everyone,

I just started my own hvac business and I wanted to know how much would you guys charge if a customer cancels on you the day of?

I wouldn't charge anything for a cancelled service call.  This won't help the customers view of your business.  Larger companies can get away with this kind of thing but as an independent contractor I wouldn't charge potential customers anything for that kind of thing.

I wouldn't charge for a cancellation if it was before I arrived to the house.  For people that cancel at the door or don't pay I issue a warning tag for 35 days.  I use Clause 6.16.1 when I notice the gas pipe outside is rusty.  Then the gas gets shut off in 35 days, by Enbridge, and the client will need to pay someone to clear the warning tag and turn the gas back on.  Every time I threaten to do this I get paid.  It's happened a few times with landlord / tenant situations.
