gsw water heater

having problems with a GSW hot water heater. Does the combustible gas sensor have a normally closed or normally oopen switch.

it responds to a resistance reading.  If the reading isnt within range the control will not allow the gas to fire.  There is also a reset procedure to follow.  are you a licensed gas fitter?
