VanEE 90H damper problem?

I've had my VanEE 90H running solid for probably 3 days now while trying to get the humidity down to 45%ish. Its not going any lower than 60%. Its currently -12 Celcius out. Anyway I noticed that when I open the unit and press the kill switch the damper motor only closes the baffle maybe 1/4 of the way before it stops and the baffle springs back open. I could have sworn that this normally closes all the way and re-opens. I'm guessing that the damper motor is getting tired and can't close the baffle (damper I guess) all the way against the spring loaded tension on it. Before blowing $200+ on a new damper motor does my logic seem sound? The damper/baffle itself seems to close easily enough by hand so it doesn't seem like it's binding or anything. Anything else I should check? The unit is 10 years old.

Thanks in advance,
Steve
