Charge: Part III Provincial Offences Act summons for an offence under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, sec. 2 – individual engaging in compulsory trade – without Certificate of Qualification that is not suspended.

Summary: On February 14, 2017, Ontario College of Trades inspectors conducted an inspection at a construction site for a new residential dwelling located at 169 Alta Road, Blue Mountains, ON.

The inspectors determined that Kenneth J. Simpson was installing and connecting eight-inch duct work in the basement of the dwelling while he did not hold a Certificate of Qualification or a Statement of Membership in the compulsory trade of sheet metal worker (308A) that is not suspended, and while he was not an apprentice in the trade working pursuant to a registered training agreement that is not suspended.

On July 26, 2017, Kenneth J. Simpson was convicted of the charge in a Barrie court and ordered to pay a fine of $850 plus a $125 victim fine surcharge.
