CSA B149.1-20 - Coming Soon

I wonder what changes the next Code book will bring.  This 2020 Code will likely not be adopted in Ontario until January 2022.

Significant updates are coming to the CSA B149.1:20 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code and CSA B149.3:20 Field Approval of Fuel Burning Appliances and Equipment Code.

To help you and your organization better understand and apply these changes, CSA Group will be introducing:

Online Overview Courses for CSA B149.1:20 Natural Gas and Propane Installation Code, CSA B149.2:20 Propane Storage & Handling Code and CSA B149.3:20 Field Approval of Fuel Burning Appliances and Equipment Code.
•   These self-paced online courses provide insight into the new additions, changes or deletions to help you quickly apply the benefits of the standards in your organization.

The CSA B149:20 Handbook will also be updated to reflect the changes in the new editions of the code.
•   The B149:20 Handbook provides detailed rationale and background information behind the code requirements and delivers an explanation of the rules in plain, easy to understand language.

I wish they would actually take the code itself seriously and make proper changes or additions to it that would make it worth while. If it's anything like the last codebook, it's just another waste of money forced upon us by suits.

Greetings, I'm into my 4th semester in HVAC/R and I was wondering if the new codes changes B149.1-20 talked about the Swagelok system?

That is not mentioned in the B149.1-20.  They normally would never mention brand names.  If their fittings are approved they should be okay to use.

Clause 6.2.12 - Materials not specified in Clause 6.2 may be used if they conform to a nationally recognized standard or to a test report of a nationally recognized certification organization.
