Hi everyone,

About one year ago, I installed a sub-slab radon fan. It works like a charm but it also drops our humidity down into the 30% to 40% range in the winter. If I don't run the fan through the winter, radon levels creep up. In the spring, summer, and fall I can open my large basement windows. The only fix I haven't performed is to try and seal cracks in the cement floor because most of it is covered with carpet. I built the house and in doing so, I made sure everything was well sealed. When the radon fan is running, you can smell fresh air coming down one of the bathroom fan's piping. That shows you how well sealed the house is! The windows are only 7 yeasrs old and are Northstars.

Is my only alternative to install a humidifier? My furnace is an 18 year old Lennox and may be due for replacement the next time there is a major failure. Thanks...

Yes, if you have a forced air system the best option is to install a humidifier.  A bypass model like the Lennox HCWB3 is likely the cheapest and easiest option.
