HI All
I hope you can help me!
I have an installation of an external Hitachi RAM-72QH5 which is 15 years old but is only used for 12 weeeks per year as it is a holidya home. Internally there are seperate units in the bedrooms and lounge areas .We have just had a service and the engineer says that the external unit compressor is wearing out (it still works fine) and that to avoid problems we should replace the external RAM unit. The house is in France and I don't speak much French so I don't want to be taken for a ride!
My question to you all is, should we be OK to just replace the RAM unit outside with its modern day equivelant or should we also replace the units inside as well. I am obviously trying to keep down the costs of the work.
Many thanks for looking and for your help in advance.

Without knowing too much about this precise unit, but going off experience with all the ductlesses in general.

You might encounter a problem of finding an outside unit that's capable of communicating with inside units. The manufacturers have a tendency of not making it easy to mix and match units. So you'll buy a brand new outside unit, but it can't control the inside units.
