Good morning,

I've got a customer who has an existing freestanding gas stove, connected to vertical B vent which is installed within a home.  The only section of B vent which is installed "outdoors" is the section of pipe that is above the roof line.

This customer would like to update their free standing stove, and was looking to replace it with another model and connect it to the existing B vent.

Forgive me if I haven't located the code clause, but would this be permissive with code if I was to find a fireplace model with a 4" breach?

I believe the Kingsman FDV350 will allow that.  They sell a vent adapter that let you connect to an existing 4" Bvent.

Take a look at page 46,

Yes you can use existing b vent. Most fireplaces that are factory made b vent are 4 inch breach or 6/58'ss breach which you will then need a b vent adapter with spill switch. Or you convert a standard to b vent with above mentioned option.
