Hi, I'm in a new to me house with a Lifebreath 195DCS. I recently came across the digital controller (99-DXPL-02) that was never installed. Maybe the digital control  features are redundant where I am on Vancouver Island??

The unit will run continuously at low speed unless there's a call from one of the wired in remotes in the bath & kitchen. All fine, except we live near a pulp mill, which puts out a quite a stench some days. When the wind blows right I'm put off my breakfast in a house full of rotting cedar, thanks to a continuously running HRV. As it is set up now the only way of shutting the unit off is to throw the breaker.

I decided to connect the control in the hope that the control would allow me to turn off the unit when needed, instead of throwing the breaker, which is a pain. All the programmable features and speeds seem to work fine, except that the unit still runs continuously on low speed, even when the fan speed is set to 0. It also seems that you can't turn the unit off using the power button!?

Any advice much appreciated ! Phil

Are you able to post a picture of the wiring at the HRV itself?  It may have been wired for continuous low speed operation.

Sure, photo attached. Grey sheathed 3 wire goes to the digital control module.

Remove the jumper between ON and LOW.  That is causing the unit to run continuously on low speed.

Where are the 3 red, black and white wires going?

3 wires go to remote timers for high speed operation. Disconnecting On/Low cured the continuous run. However the digital display has now crapped out. Display reads 1 3 as per this post from 2019:  https://www.hvactechgroup.com/hvacforum/index.php?topic=2751.0

Apparently 1 3 on the display means the unit is F'd. I tried all the same tricks mentioned in the post to get it working but alas, no dice.

No worries though, removing the jumper got me what I wanted. I can just hit the remote to exhaust the bath & kitchen on demand. Happy not to have a house stinking of pulp when it blows this way.  Cheers, were do I send you beer money?

I'm glad you got the fan stopped.  Did you try reinstalling the jumper to see if the main control works again?  That is weird.

The wiring looks like shielded 2 wire but they used the shield as a conductor.  I'm not sure if that may cause problems.

Thank you!!  Donations are welcomed but not required.
