Myths about 313D Challenge G2 Apprenticeship

well the ministry has come out and finally done something right, they are making it harder to challenge for the exam.  You now must be a registered apprentice with 4500 hours proven and your booked signed off to challenge the exam.  You can no longer walk in and just give me a skills book signed off with a letter saying you have hours worked.  There are too many guys who are fly by nighters working in unmarked white vans, and the ministry is trying to get rid of them. 

After talking with a friend who is a Regional manage for a national company who uses the HVAC union guys i have also come to find out that starting sometime around september TSSA is no longer going to be in charge of the gas fitters ticket, it is going to become a 5 year apprenticeship for your G2, (woohoo finally)  anyone signing up for a 313A license will also get there g2 during there 9000 hours because they are going to include it with that ticket.  All of those stupid private schools who are cranking out G2's right now who have no idea what they are doing will not become useless finally, and maybe there can be some respect given back to the trade.

I've been getting phone calls from Ipsos Reid for a TSSA questionnaire.

As long as they don't try to make me go back to school I will be happy!

I will believe what you are saying about the TSSA when it actualy happens. Our teachers were saying that since I was taking my G2 coarse 4 years ago. The other reason I question it is what will they do when they you only need a gas fitter not both? Dosent make sence that a 313a is going to lay gas pipe they would make more as a refer mechanic. Its a seperate trade and as far as I know thats how the minstry is putting the legislation forward(I have a friend that was involved with the legislation). What you are saying about the 313d license is true though as I am self empolyed I have to show them letters of referance, inovices and basicaly anything else I can throw at them to prove my experiance with residential ac sytems and than the do an assesment and make a decision whether I can write or not.

fact: they are not attaching the G2 to the 313A licence. the G2 has its own apprenticeship called the 636G gas technician 2 apprenticeship. The gas Tech 3 license will change to a G2-T if the apprentce has a sponsor and completes a manditory 30 hour safety course.

Presently North American Trade Schools in london ontario are certified through TSSA for this manditory 30hr workshop.

your comment about pumping Gas Technicians out from private schools that DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING, who are you to make that comment!!! your probably a parts changer with that stupid attitude>

the instructors at North American Trade schools combined have well over 60 years experience and hold licences in: sheet metal worker, G1, G2, OBT1, OBT2, 313A, 313D, major appliance technician, master plumber, and master electrician. They have the biggest lab in south western ontario and produce troubleshooters not part changing micheals.
If your going to talk crap at least know what your talking about> Any student that choses NATS for training will get exactly what this country should be focused on, instead they follow unions and  are about to destroy the trades and get rich off us at the same time reduce the quality of training that school provides. insulting these trade instructors is insulting all traqdes. get a life michealand share the right information next time
