Air filter questions!?!??!

What are your thoughts on the following .

How are those cheap 1" media/fiberglass filters that have metal mesh I beleive on one side . Wholesaler has them for about $2.

Also what do u guys think of the 5" filter rack ?

You talking the blue stuff you can cut to size and wash? It's alright I guess. You have to use a filter spray on it. Nobody does.

For 1'' I always recommend a standard merv 8 pleated filter. Nothing more, nothing less.

The cheap fiberglass ones are useless. They don't even start catching anything until the holes fill with large pieces of debris. By the time they actually start to catch stuff, people throw them away.

5'' is much better. You have a lot more room in the pleats to catch debris in. More surface area means better airflow for the unit.

A merv 11 1'' filter will be more restrictive than a merv 11 4''.

I personally use 4'' filters.

I saw them online I think they r only merv 5 . That's abit too low for a 1 "??
